| Ride type | Best for | How the passenger travels |
|---|---|---|
| Ambulatory | Patients who can walk, with or without a cane or walker | Seated in the vehicle, with driver assistance door-to-door |
| Wheelchair | Manual or power wheelchair users who cannot transfer to a car seat | Stays in own wheelchair, secured in an accessible van |
| Ambulance (not offered by CuraTransit) | Emergencies, patients who must lie flat, or patients needing care en route | Call 911 or an ambulance provider |
Non-emergency medical transportation is scheduled transportation to and from medical care for people who do not need an ambulance but cannot drive or use regular transportation safely. It includes wheelchair van rides and assisted ambulatory rides.
Choose ambulatory if you can walk, with or without a cane or walker, and wheelchair if you need to stay seated in your own manual or power wheelchair. CuraTransit does not provide stretcher transport; if a patient must lie flat or needs medical monitoring during the trip, an ambulance provider is required.
CuraTransit serves Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties from its Southfield office — including Detroit, Southfield, Troy, Dearborn, Warren, Sterling Heights, Livonia, Farmington Hills, Royal Oak, Pontiac, Novi and Clinton Township. Longer trips outside the three counties are quoted case by case.
CuraTransit accepts facility contracts, private pay, eligible Michigan auto-accident (no-fault PIP) claims and eligible Michigan Assigned Claims Plan (MACP) cases. Call 248-320-9092 for a free quote.
